Statement of BJP National President Shri Amit Shah
In pursuance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s aims of poverty eradication and ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ the Bharatiya Janata Party is pledged to end scavenging from the country by 2016. Thousands of party workers of the party will fan out to the furthermost villages of the country to ensure that no person is forced to carry night soil. Nearly 68 years after independence 23 lakh families are still involved in this despicable profession. BJP workers will strive to bring them out of the same by ensuring that fruits of development reach the lowest common denominator of the society.
On August 9, 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi while addressing the party’s National Executive had said that party members need to rise up above politics to serve society. Inspired by the words of the Hon'ble Prime Minister, the BJP has decided to undertake this mission.
The BJP is also determined to take the message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance government’s unique ‘Beti bachao, beti padhao’ initiative to masses. Today in several states including Delhi the percentage of girls per thousand boys is declining. It is therefore necessary that steps are taken to save the girl child. It is similarly necessary that women are extended benefits of education to ensure them equal opportunity in all spheres of life. Prime Minister Narendra Modi believes that for every boy educated, one life is enlightened. But for every girl educated, an entire family is enlightened. The government has started ‘Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna’ in this direction. It is for this very reason that the party has also decided to take the cause forward.
As the world’s largest political outfit, the BJP will diligently work towards accomplishing these two primary goals. All office bearers and workers are requested to take personal responsibility for their fulfillment.
