The Bharatiya Janata Party national president, Shri Amit Shah ji, addressed a conference of booth-level workers in Tapi, Gujarat, on Thursday. On the occasion, he appealed to the workers to work towards ensuring the party’s victory in the Gujarat Assembly election of 2017 once again with a full majority.
Reacting to the allegations of the Congress vice-president, Shri Shah said that Rahul Gandhi was looking at the country through Italian lenses. He said that while Rahul Gandhi sought a performance report of the NDA government that had hardly had two-and-a-half years in office, he could not account for the corruption scandals worth Rs 12 lakh crore that the UPA government had officiated over in the 10 years of its reign. Shri Shah said that Shri Narendra Modi’s government has been so clean that even the opposition could not level charges of corruption against it. It is because of the Congress’s anti-poor and regressive policies that the oldest party of the country that at one point had more than 400 seats in the Lok Sabha is today reduced to 44 seats in the Lower House, he said, adding that after consecutive defeats in the Assembly elections of Maharashtra, Haryana, Jharkhand, Kerala, Bengal and Assam, it was amusing that the Congress was still dreaming of coming to power.
Calling the tenure of NDA rule so far as a period that has enhanced the prestige of the country, Shri Shah said that the world acknowledges today that the 21st century is going to be India’s century. He said that the Modi government has given the country a corruption-less, pro-people and transparent government.
Turning the heat on the western neighbour, Shri Shah said that India now responds to Pakistani bullets with mortars. He said that while Pakistan remains the aggressor, they are the Indian soldiers who bring the fight to an end every time. He said that the Pakistan Prime Minister, Shri Nawaz Sharif, who never tired of ranting on Kashmir, is today busy trying to save Balochistan from seceding. He said the Modi government has secured the borders. He said that the leadership of Shri Modi has raised the glory of India in the World including US, China, Sri Lanka, Australia, Germany, Russia and many others. He said that the warmth with which Shri Modi is received the world over today is an ode not to the BJP or NDA, but a tribute to 125 crore Indians.
Hitting out at the Congress, Shri Shah said that it has been losing Gujarat elections badly since 1995 and yet it has the gall to dream of a comeback in the state. He reminded the party workers how the Congress used to impose curfew at the drop of a hat during its rule in the state while the BJP on coming to power made the state curfew-free. He said that the BJP pulled up Gujarat’s ranking on top of the states. He concluded the speech with an appeal to the BJP workers to work once again to ensure that the party retains power in Gujarat with absolute majority.
